About the event
In this talk, I will consider how post-communist nostalgia helps shape a positive national identity in contemporary Eastern European societies. I will primarily focus on Romania as a case study and present data that provide support for the idea of nostalgia as a counter-hegemonic emotion capable of galvanising support for an enduring, authentic and distinctive national identity particularly at times of deep political discontent.
